Fitness & Performance
Heart Health
Fitness is easy to guess at and surprisingly hard to measure well. Most people rely on how they feel on a given day. A Physical & VO2 Max assessment replaces the guesswork with a precise, in-clinic read on how your body actually performs under load.
What It Is
VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise, and it is one of the most studied markers of cardiovascular fitness. It is closely associated with long-term health, which is why it sits at the centre of the Precursor Performance picture. Measuring it directly, rather than estimating it from a watch, gives you a number you can trust and train against.
What It Measures
The assessment tests VO2 max, strength and functional capacity under controlled conditions, giving a rounded view of your cardiorespiratory fitness and physical capacity. Together these show not just how fit you are, but where your training has the most to gain.
What To Expect
This takes place in clinic rather than from a sample. You are guided through a graded exercise test, usually on a bike or treadmill, while your breathing and heart response are measured. The intensity builds gradually and is supervised throughout, so you can stop at any point. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can move in, and avoid a heavy meal or hard session right before. The whole assessment takes around 45 to 60 minutes.
Your Results
You see headline metrics on the day, and a full report follows in the Precursor app with context on what your numbers mean and how they compare over time. Your clinician helps you set realistic targets and build training that moves them. Because the app tracks change between assessments, your fitness becomes something you can measure and steadily improve rather than something you hope is heading the right way.
