A Full Body MRI offers something unusual in preventive health: a broad, detailed survey of your body from head to thigh, captured with a magnetic field rather than radiation. For people who want a wide look in a single sitting, without an ionising dose, it is one of the most comprehensive scans available.

What It Is

MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed images of soft tissue and structures throughout the body. A full body protocol covers many regions in one appointment, looking for structural changes and abnormalities across the body at once. Because it uses no ionising radiation, it suits people who want breadth without a radiation dose, and it is worth understanding what it can and cannot show, which your clinician will help you think through before you book.

What It Measures

The scan provides whole-body structural imaging, used to assess structural changes and abnormalities across multiple regions of the body. It is a structural survey rather than a functional test, and it complements the more targeted scans and bloods in your Precursor profile.

What To Expect

The scan is performed at a partner imaging centre and takes around an hour, during which you lie still inside the MRI scanner. The machine is noisy and you are given headphones or earplugs. Because MRI uses a strong magnet, you will be asked about any metal implants or devices beforehand, and you should leave metal items outside the scan room. There is no radiation and no recovery time.

Your Results

A specialist reviews the images, and a clinician walks you through the report in the Precursor app. It is common for whole-body scans to find incidental things that turn out to be harmless but warrant a closer look, and we are upfront about that. If a finding needs follow-up, your clinician guides you calmly through what it means and the sensible next step, so the result leads to clarity rather than worry.

Book a Full Body MRI for a broad, radiation-free survey of your body in a single sitting.
