DIAGNOSTIC OVERVIEW

DIAGNOSTIC OVERVIEW

What Brain Volume MRI Is

This is a detailed, radiation-free MRI of the brain, followed by volumetric analysis, sometimes called morphometry. The scan itself is the same experience as a standard brain MRI. The difference sits in the analysis afterwards, where the images are processed to measure regional brain volumes rather than assessed by eye alone.

Why it's worth it

Measured, not just described.

Compared against your age range.

A baseline future scans can build on.

light flare bokeh blue background

DIAGNOSTIC DETAILS

What it measures

You get the structural report of a brain MRI plus volumetric measurements of key regions, expressed against reference ranges for your age. Brain volume is one measure among many and is associated with, rather than determinative of, cognitive health.

Regional Brain Volumes

Software measures the size of key brain regions from your scan, turning structural imaging into numbers rather than an impression formed by eye.

Full Structural Report

You still receive the complete radiologist report that comes with a standard brain MRI.

Set Against Your Age

Your measurements are compared with reference ranges for your age, so the figures have context rather than sitting on their own.

A Trackable Baseline

Because the result is measured, a future scan can be compared against it directly.

HOW IT WORKS

From booking to your results

Structure is useful. Measurement is trackable. Here is how a Brain Volume MRI goes from a conversation with your clinician to numbers you understand.

Your Results Are In!

Tap to review your results and see what's next.

01

Speak with your clinician

This scan is clinician selected, so it starts with a conversation about whether it suits your situation and what volumetric measures can and cannot tell you.

02

Book your scan

Choose a time that suits you at a partner imaging centre near you. There is usually no fasting and no contrast dye, and you will be screened beforehand for implants and metal.

03

Have your scan

You lie still on a padded table with ear protection while the scanner captures the images. It is painless, uses no radiation, and takes around forty five to sixty minutes.

04

Review and analysis

A radiologist reviews your images and prepares the structural report, while volumetric analysis measures key regions and sets them against reference ranges for your age.

05

Results and plan

Report and measurements land in the Precursor app in plain language, and a clinician explains what the numbers mean, what they do not, and how to read them alongside your other results.

FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

How do I book a test?

Choose your test and a time that suits you online, then visit one of our partner locations. If any preparation is needed, such as fasting, we tell you clearly when you book.

When and how do I get my results?

Your results appear in the Precursor app once your sample or scan has been processed, laid out in plain language rather than a wall of numbers. Turnaround depends on the test, and we give you a timeframe when you book.

Will someone explain my results to me?

Yes. A clinician reviews your results, flags anything worth your attention and helps you understand what they mean and what, if anything, to do next. You are never left to interpret them alone.

Where can I get tested?

We operate nationally through a network of partner locations across most major cities and regional centres. When you book, you simply choose the location that is most convenient for you.

Do I need to prepare or fast beforehand?

It depends on the test. Some require fasting or other simple preparation, and others need nothing at all. Whatever applies, we tell you clearly at the time you book so there are no surprises on the day.

Can I track my results over time?

Yes. The Precursor app is built to show change between tests, so each result becomes a trend you can follow rather than a one-off snapshot. Retesting lets you see the effect of any changes you make.

How is my data handled and kept private?

Your health data is handled with care and kept private. Results are stored securely in the Precursor app and shared only with you and the clinicians involved in your care.

What happens if something needs further attention?

If your results surface something worth acting on, your clinician explains it calmly and talks you through sensible next steps. The aim is early clarity and considered action, never unnecessary alarm.
